- The
partnership aims to empower women, girls, and marginalize groups to
benefit from existing opportunities and enhance their economic status.
- The
collaboration focuses on pooling efforts and resources to address
community challenges over a three-year period.
- The
agreement aims to provide professional advice in designing and managing
projects that aim to strengthen the sectors of education, health, and the
environment in Mainland Tanzania and Zanzibar.
- It aims
to improve collaborations and combine efforts between non-governmental
organizations and private corporations in solving citizens' challenges.
The
non-governmental organization LSF and the NMB Foundation have signed an
agreement to jointly implement social projects aimed at uplifting women and
girls socially and economically. These collaborations, signed today at the NMB
bank headquarters, are expected to be three-year agreements.
The agreement
is focused on implementing projects in
the sectors of Education, Entrepreneurship, Health, and Environment – areas in
which these organizations have been implementing their projects. Through these
agreements, LSF and NMB Foundation aim to combine efforts in sourcing financial
resources to implement various projects nationwide.
Since its
establishment in 2021, the NMB Foundation has been implementing its projects in
these vital sectors of Education, Health, Agriculture, Environment, and
Entrepreneurship with the aim of promoting sustainable and economic inclusion.
Moreover, LSF has been committed to ensuring the social and economic rights of
women are met nationwide by providing education and empowering communities to
ensure equality and access to various opportunities, including education,
quality health, clean environment, and resources by implementing community
projects in districts and regions across Mainland Tanzania and Zanzibar.
These
agreements between LSF and NMB Foundation come at a time when our country is implementing
an agenda to empower women economically and make progress towards achieving the
goals of the National Development Vision for 2025 and the SDGs by 2030.
Therefore, these collaborations are aimed at contributing to achieving these
goals.
Speaking
during the signing of these agreements, Mr. Nelson Karumuna, General Manager of
NMB Foundation, expressed his enthusiasm about the partnership, saying,
"As an institution implementing social projects, NMB Foundation expects a
lot from these collaborations. This is a partnership between two influential
institutions in their respective operational areas. We are more in a sector
where we can collaborate with LSF in empowering women and girls socially and
economically. Therefore, we expect that joining our forces together will enable
many projects to be initiated and reach more Tanzanians in Mainland and
Zanzibar. We have set a goal to invest efforts in jointly sourcing financial
resources from various internal and external sources for a period of three
years," said Mr. Karumuna.
On her part,
the Executive Director of LSF, Ms. Lulu Ng’wanakilala said, "We are proud
to enter into agreements with the private sector and are pleased to see the
private sector like NMB Foundation taking the lead in devising alternative
collaboration strategies that are effective in solving social challenges, and
NMB Foundation is a clear example today. LSF for about 12 years has been
implementing our projects at the community level, and we still see major
challenges in empowering women and girl children educationally, health-wise,
and economically, thus the partnership we are initiating today with NMB
foundation will be productive in contributing to solving these challenges.
LSF believes
in stakeholders coming together and combining efforts, and thus we have been
working closely with the Government and its institutions, development partners,
non-governmental organizations, private sector thus signing these agreements
with NMB foundation today is a major step in making our programs sustainable.
It is clear that the collaborations entered into today between these two
institutions will be productive in increasing joint efforts and pooling
resources in contributing to eradicating poverty, ending gender disparities,
and promoting inclusive economic growth in Tanzania, especially for women and
girls who have been left behind," added Ng’wanakilala.
LSF and NMB
Foundation believe in collaborations as a catalyst for bringing about
sustainable development in society. These agreements are the beginning of the
implementation of projects aimed at continuing to reach communities and various
needy groups in Mainland Tanzania and Zanzibar.
