WANAWAKE TUNAWEZA PROJECT: Wanawake Tunaweza Project Empowers Maasai Women for Sustainable Impact.

Wanawake Tunaweza, in its steadfast commitment to women’s economic empowerment, announces the successful culmination of two transformative initiatives benefitting the Maasai women in Longido.

  1. Enhancing Menstrual Hygiene and Empowering Schoolgirls:

As part of our ongoing efforts, Wanawake Tunaweza project has provided comprehensive training to Maasai women, equipping them with the skills to produce reusable sanitary pads. This initiative, aimed at fostering safe menstrual hygiene practices, is set to benefit over 1421 schoolgirls in the region. The training empowers women to contribute to the well-being of the community while addressing a critical aspect of girls’ education and health.

  1. Financial Empowerment Through Access to Capital:

In a parallel effort, the Wanawake Tunaweza project has facilitated access to capital totaling TZS 22 million for 11 Maasai women groups in Longido. This infusion of funds is poised to catalyze expansion in diverse sectors, including livestock farming, agriculture, savings groups, and cultural crafts. The capital injection is not only an investment in businesses but a strategic move to uplift the economic standing of these women, ultimately enhancing their income.

Furthermore, recognizing the importance of skill enhancement, Wanawake Tunaweza has distributed 11 sewing machines to women’s groups. This initiative aims to empower women with tools for sustainable economic activities, fostering independence and entrepreneurship.

These combined efforts underline Wanawake Tunaweza’s holistic approach to women’s empowerment, addressing both critical health needs and economic development. The organization expresses gratitude to all partners and stakeholders whose collaboration has made these initiatives possible.
